Bali

The second last stop on our trip Indonesia, Bali.

Mike and Gail were kind enough to let us use their timeshare so Shands and I grabbed the opportunity with both hands and enjoyed the week relaxing in luxury in West Bali. Being in West Bali, 2 hours from the airport, it was pretty remote but after the hustle and bustle of India it was perfect! Apart from venturing down to the black sand beach with its wild and totally undeveloped coast line for a swim we literally didn’t stray from the resort’s poolside.

So all relaxed and rejuvenated it was time to beef up the gang again. We made our way down to Kuta which is the tourist centre of Bali where we met up with Clydo, Cands and Lorns and we also managed to catch the start of the Super 14.
T he next day V and Al arrived and we moved into our villa we had hired for the week. With the pool pretty much being an extension of our lounge and the temperature turned right up we spent our days swimming and our nights.... swimming with a few evening rounds of Marco Polo for our inner child(s).

One of the nights we ventured out to celebrate Al’s 40th birthday at Ku Du Ta (one of Bali’s more opulent establishments) where we enjoyed some sunset cocktails. However with our backpacker budgets already stretched and the remaining days left of our trip, it was soon back to the Bingtangs for us.

After an awesome week with our friends in Bali and a lot of pool time it was time to say goodbye to our friends as Shands and I headed to the East Coast of Bali where we spent a few extra days really making certain that we are totally relaxed before we head back to South Africa.

We look forward to seeing you lot in SA but not before a quick few days, with the Herriotts, in Singapore.
